Alpha Sigma Alpha has chosen two philanthropies: Special Olympics and the S. June Smith Center.

Special Olympics is an international organization that provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization offers opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship. For more information, please visit the Special Olympics website.

The S. June Smith Center is an early diagnostic and education center for children who are developmentally delayed. Services are provided to families free of charge. For more information about the S. June Smith Center, please visit their website.

Make a Lasting Impact

Women of Theta Gamma Chapter have the unique advantage of being able to contribute to Special Olympics by coaching local soccer and basketball teams, as well as making water bottles for the athletes, and cheering them on at tournaments. This means we work hands-on with athletes and are able to build lasting friendships with the people we meet. Working with Special Olympics gives sisters the chance to see for themselves the difference that we are making in people’s lives.

Alpha Sigma Alpha sisters support the S. June Smith Center by collecting supplies as well as raising money. Because the center is located in Lancaster, PA, it is not possible for Theta Gamma chapter to work hands-on with the center, but chapters that are located nearby are able to contribute in other ways.
